Eyes & Dreams~

Inspired by The Book Thief- Markus Zusak
One eye open,
One still in a dream,
The sky spilled onto the ground
Gingerly tempting me to drown.
One eye open,
one still in a dream,
I saw something that I never could when I was asleep:
The sky adorned with diamonds hiding behind clouds,
The moon trickling out of its shape of a frown.
One eye open,
one still in a dream,
The prickly winter breeze sang to me
As I struggled to fall asleep.
The clouds softened my fall,
The rain wiped my tears away,
The birds etched a smile on my face
That the dark had so depravedly snatched away.
One eye open,
one still in a dream,
Wrap me around in flames ‘till i'm safe from all the grief;
Throw me down and watch the train, ablaze.
I’m not a feeling you’d call afraid.
One eye open,
one still in a dream,
I’ll cover your mouth when you scream.
"One eye open, one still in a dream" is line from the book itself, credits to Markus Zusak for that line.
